The annual Norwalk fireworks display was initially scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 3 at sundown, though with a forecast of potentially inclement weather predicted, the show has been moved to Thursday, July 5.
Heat warnings and advisories remain in the area, and will be in effect through 9 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, as the heat index is expected to hover around 100 degrees. Storms are expected to reach Fairfield County by the afternoon.
In response to the storm, the Fourth of July celebrations have been postponed. On Thursday, there will be a children’s show, “The Amazing Andy Show,” that begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by “Dance to the Music with DJ Nuzzo,” at 6 p.m. The fireworks are expected to start once the sun goes down at Calf Pasture Beach.
“They had a difficult decision but call had to be made early,” Norwalk Police Chief Tom Kulhawik posted on Twitter on Tuesday.
